What's on at Two Boats Club...

A Toast to Robbie Burns!

A fine time was had by all at the OSM on Saturday evening.  This formal function had a Scottish flavour in celebration of the life and works of poet Robert Burns.  It included haggis, bagpipes, whisky, Scottish – American English translation and some short speeches to toast all the key elements of the evening: the poet himself, the lassies, the laddies and the haggis!

Although all the speeches were informative and humorous, the toast to the haggis was surely the most enthralling thanks to the dramatic delivery by Iain Lamb while gesticulating wildly and slashing at the haggis.  The event ended with some energetic ceilidh dancing after the meal, accompanied by Donald Lindsay on his bagpipes.  Thank you to Joanna Sheath for pulling it all together, to the Mess staff for the food and service, to the speakers [Hannah Lindsay, Iain Lamb, Gillian Tyre and CAIB], to Donald for his pipe music, to Donna Whitlock as an excellent Mrs Vice and, of course, to the Chieftain himself, Graeme Tyre.

If you fancy some Scottish dancing, there will be more of the same – and maybe even some more delightful Scottish foods – at Two Boats Club next Saturday evening (contact PA to Administrator asap if interested).
